(May to December)
Hermanus – known as the best land based whale watching destination in the world – is our destination for this exhilarating one day experience.
This is a unique opportunity to encounter whales, dolphins, seals, clawless otters and a variety of sea birds just 90 minutes from Cape Town.
We’ll drive over the spectacular Sir Lowry’s and Houwhoek Passes and stop for refreshments at either one of the very popular farm stalls or The Houwwhoek Inn, reputably the oldest wayside inn still in use. Its quaint bar is a good watering hole!
At Hermanus you have the option of a unique boat based whale watching trip. Depending on the season, you may see Southern Southern Right Whales mating or calving. You may also encounter some migrating Humpback Whales as well the smaller, shy, Bryde’s Whales who do not leave our waters. You could also interact with dolphins, seals, clawless otters and a variety of sea birds.
Lunch at the award winning famous Bientangs Cave Restaurant while you hear more about the Legends of Bientang http://www.bientangscave.com/ocean_defenders.php
We’ll take the coastal road home via Kleinmond, Betty’s Bay, Pringle Bay Rooiels and Gordon’s Bay. Sundowners and snacks overlooking the famous surfing spot of Kogel Bay will conclude your unforgettable experience before being returned to your hotel.
